Terms and Conditions
All Terms and Conditions apply without exclusion, once you have purchased an Event for yourself and/or your companions or you have been offered an Event (herein referred to as “you” or the “Guest”), provided by SONARA DHOW RESTAURANTS L.L.C, a limited liability company registered before the Dubai Dep. Of Economic Development holding licence number 1332971and/or its subcontractors including but not limited to, transport companies and catering providers. (All of the above herein referred to as ‘Nara’, “Sonara”, “we”, “us”, and “our”.) “Event” shall refer to the duration between the time when you are picked up from an agreed location and dropped off to an agreed location as well as the time spent on the Dhow.
Food and Beverage Consumption
- All food and beverages are halal as per UAE law for food-establishments. No pork will be included in our catering services.
- It is forbidden to bring your own food/beverages to the Dhow cruises
- All alcohol provided at Sonara is intended for adults above 21 years old only. You understand that Sonara staff members may check your ID from time to time to make sure you comply with those rules.
- Upon request, we will gladly provide you with the leftovers of your food for take-away. In this case, please note that Sonara can not be held liable for any failure to properly maintain safe food temperatures, quality and storage.
Dietary Restrictions, Allergies and Medical Conditions
- You are required to let us know of any (a) dietary restrictions, (b) allergies and (c) other medical conditions at the time of booking your Event.
- We cater for vegetarians, gluten free, lactose free and more, please inform your Event manager 48 hours before the Event date if you require any special diet.
- While there is no guarantee of our being able to accommodate any dietary restrictions, we will do our level best to do so.
- In the case of any extreme allergies or medical conditions, we reserve the right to request you not to attend the Event and/or request you to bring your own food in the case we cannot accommodate your restrictions.
Event Participation
- You understand and confirm that your participation in the Event is completely voluntary.
- Children under the age of 6 are not permitted to participate in the Event for safety reasons. Children aged 6 to 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times during the Event. Sonara reserves the discretionary right to refuse participation of any person under 21 years of age and unaccompanied by a guardian.
- You take responsibility for ensuring that you are mentally and physically capable of participating in the event. A certain level of fitness is required to participate in the event.
- You agree to comply with the instructions in English of the Event manager(s) and our crew. Any accident resulting from non-compliance with these instructions will be the sole responsibility of the Guest.
- If in the opinion of the Event manager(s) and/or our crew, your behavior or physical condition is detrimental to the safety, welfare and well-being of the group as a whole, or if we consider that your general well-being will be put at risk by continuing with the Event, you may be asked not to participate in the Event without the right to any refund of the price.
- Guests are required to obtain travel insurance covering their Event liabilities, medical expenses, and cancellations. Sonara shall not be responsible to control the validity and the effectiveness of such insurances.
- By participating in this event, Guests consent to being filmed or photographed as part of our promotional activities. If any participant does not wish to appear in such materials, they must inform our team prior to the Event.
- In the event of a Guest’s delay exceeding 10 minutes beyond the scheduled departure time of the cruise, the booking will be considered a “no-show,” and the reservation will be forfeited.
Liability
- You fully comprehend and accept all of the risks associated with your participation and the participation of the Guests you are responsible for in the Event including, without limitation: injury or death resulting from exposure to unfavorable weather and/or navigational conditions and/or on-board and offboard activities and/or transport to/from the Dhow, security threats, slips, trips and falls, fire and explosions, failure to adhere to safety protocols, wildlife risks, food sickness, illness and/or absence of access to specialized medical treatment while at sea/on the water, docking accident, allergic reactions, choking, collisions with other vessels, infectious diseases, man overboard and/or drowning, malfunctioning furniture or fixtures and injuries arising from self-inflicted accidents or mishaps, other participants, motor vehicles, and pedestrians.
- Sonara disclaims any liability in relation to the Event, except in cases of proven gross negligence or fault by its staff. Sonara shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with the Event, including but not limited to material damages and body damages.
- Sonara shall not be held liable for any material or bodily damages caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, acts of God, governmental actions, pandemics, or other unforeseen events.
- In any event, Sonara’s maximum liability, if any, shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Guest for the Event giving rise to the claim.
This clause is subject to the applicable laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which Sonara operates. Any provisions found unenforceable under local law shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
Event Participant Conduct
- At all times during the Event, you are expected to have consideration for your fellow event guests and other third parties.
- You shall ensure at any time that the Guests you are responsible for, including minors (if any) shall follow and comply with the present terms and conditions.
- Guests are required to strictly adhere to safety instructions displayed and communicated by the crew. Any accident resulting from non-compliance with these instructions will be the sole responsibility of the Guest.
- For the benefit of everyone, we reserve the right to remove any participant or Guest whose conduct is deemed to pose a risk or nuisance to others. We will not refund or cover any cost or expenses incurred due to unacceptable behavior. Solely Sonara’s teams, based on their experience and expertise, shall determine which behaviours are risky or likely to cause harm to other guests.
Medical Treatment
- You authorize Sonara, if necessary, to provide to you, through medical personnel of its choice, customary medical assistance, transportation, and emergency medical services. This consent does not impose a duty upon Sonara to provide such assistance, transportation, or services.
Transportation, Disabilities & Pregnancy
- Pregnant Guests within their third trimester will not be accepted due to health concerns.
- Vehicles may be equipped with dashcam technology that records high-definition sound and video. Footage may be used for legal, insurance and training purposes and may be used to verify performance related questions, queries or concerns.
- Sonara is unable to accommodate individuals requiring wheelchairs due to the configuration of the onboard facilities (several staircases). Guests are requested to inform us of any mobility constraints at the time of booking to assess whether we can meet these needs. Sonara reserves the right not to accept Guests that have a disability onboard due to safety concerns.
Guarantee and Payment Policy
- Payment in full is due prior to the Event date. This may be made via electronic transfer, cheque or credit card. Sonara reserves the right to cancel the event if payment has not been received in full.
- Prices are quoted in AED (UAE dirhams), unless stated otherwise.
- An advance payment must be made at the time of booking via our payment instructions. Only bookings with complete payments will receive a confirmation.
- If there is any remaining payment, it will be collected in cash (UAE Dirhams) or can be settled by credit card onsite by a Sonara representative.
- All provisional bookings will be held for a maximum of 4 days and will be confirmed as soon as deposit payment has been received.
- All bank fees should be paid by the Guest.
- For payment instructions, if it will be settled as bank transfer kindly precise your name as well as the invoice number for us to track your transaction accordingly.

Booking Policy and Payment Terms – Private Events
- Your booking is tentative until we receive your signed, dated contract along with the down payment. All tentative bookings will be held for a maximum of 4 working days from the submission date of our proposal, depending on the tentative date of your Event.
- A down payment is a non-refundable deposit. It is recommended that you opt for the Cancellation Protection Program to take advantage of the last minutes cancellation coverage.
- If your booking date is within the 14 days period of your event, we require a full payment to confirm your reservation. Full payment must be done 14 days prior to the event date at the latest.
- Sonara reserve the right to cancel your Event if the final balance due has NOT been settled prior to your Event without a written approval from Sonara and your deposit WILL NOT be reimbursed.
- Delayed Final Balance payment after the date of the Event WILL NOT be granted to non-Dubai residents or Dubai registered corporate entities.
If Sonara agrees to a delayed Final Balance payment, and in case of late settlement of the Final Balance over the pre-agreed date, Sonara reserve the right to charge an interest of 9% p.a. late payment fee calculated pro-rata temporis based on the Final Balance amount as per Article 84 of the UAE’s Commercial Code.
Kindly note that all prices and menu items are subject to change, according to supply availability of which you will be notified in advance. Alcohol and suppliers selection are subject to availability, unless it has been confirmed and paid 7 working days prior to the Event.
Cancellation and modifications
- Sonara reserves the right to cancel or modify a booking in the event of adverse weather conditions, technical failure, or any other exceptional circumstances beyond our control. In the event of cancellation, a full refund or rescheduling will be offered.
Sonara and its affiliates reserve the right to deny entry or expel any Guests, employee or supplier that does not conform to the above rules. Sonara also reserves the right to report to local authorities any person being in breach of local laws and regulations. Sonara cannot be held responsible for any accident, injuries or death resulting from the non-respect of the above rules
Private Events External Suppliers
In the instance you contract an external supplier for your Event, in any measure, please note the following:
- When applicable a truck must be hired from Sonara to transport any materials onto the Dhow. No other vehicle can be admitted.
- In case the external suppliers staff need to be shuttled to and from the Pier, behind Intercontinental Hotel Festival City.
Equipment on Site
- Any equipment that is damaged in any form or lost by you will incur a charge of at least AED 200.00 or more in cash, depending on the situation assessed by your Event manager(s). This charge will be payable immediately.
Personal Belongings
- You are wholly responsible for your own personal belongings throughout the Event. We are unable to claim responsibility for any belonging that may have been lost, stolen or damaged by a third party during the Event.
- All items lost and found on our camps will be kept for a period of 12 month. It is your responsibility to claim any lost item. All items unclaimed 12 month after having been found will be discarded or given to charity.
Release of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sonara accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, accident, sickness, injury or death that you or anyone else may suffer or incur arising out of the Event and/or in connection with your booking with us. You are advised to have comprehensive travel and health insurance. All personal effects are at your sole risk at all times during the Event. By purchasing your Event, you and/or your companions affirm that you have all fully understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with your booking with Sonara shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of UAE.
